The felines — eight of them, to be exact — were tragically found alongside 38 dogs and 40 dead animals in the cab of an abandoned Chevy Silverado in the parking lot of a Marshall's Department store on Hampton House Road in Hampton Township on Monday, April 9, Daily Voice reported.

The Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge described the animals as being “terrified, huddled in all corners” as rescuers spent hours pulling them one-by-one from the battered truck.

One of those rescuers was Gabryel Murphy, who says that many of the animals have since been split into groups and sent to different shelters.

Four of the cats, however, had apparently been “living in small crates under the dogs,” causing serious medical issues that must be solved before they can be adopted, Murphy says in a GoFundMe created for their vet expenses.

“The cats themselves…will need to see the vet as many of them are sick and have respiratory infections that can only be treated with medicine provided by a professional,” reads the campaign. “All of the cats also need to be neutered/spayed.”

Nearly $1,900 had been raised as of Friday, April 14.

“We are asking that you donate whatever you can to help these cats live a new, HAPPY life,” reads the campaign. “Thank you in advance, anything helps.”
